Upcoming Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Project Selects Ardmore Associates for Project Management and Construction Management Services

Chicago—The earliest of tasks of Ardmore Associates, an engineering consulting firm that specializes in diverse teams and complex projects, will be to develop the MBE/WBE workforce hiring plans for the upcoming Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Project in Chicago. As a project manager and construction manager, Ardmore will provide full-service oversight on the project as a sub-consultant to Mortenson. Ardmore’s services include expediting the  ground lease and complicated entitlement issues to assist in moving the project forward.

The futurist project is in planning stages now. Its design is described as blurring the line between structure and landscape due to its continuous, undulating organic surface. At this time, the museum will consist of two main program elements: a 400,000 square foot museum and an integral 285,000 square foot parking structure. The major spaces include a gallery, central public space, offices, restaurant, theaters, education space, archive space and MEP space.

The Lucas Museum building is designed by award-winning architect Ma Yansong of MAD Architects. Chicago-based VOA is the project’s architect of record. Studio Gang Architects and SCAPE Landscape Architects are designing the landscape.

The tallest points of museum will feature an observation deck with 360-degree views providing visitors with stunning panoramas of both Chicago and Lake Michigan. The interior’s exhibition space has infinite loops that will inspire the imagination through content and design. The intention of the museum’s design is to tell a story. The narrative ushers in the future of architectural design, explaining the relationship between man and nature.
